Subject: Royal Park Hotel

My wife myself and 2 children just arrived back from Royal Park Hotel Elinite Bulgaria and I must say we all enjoyed ourselves and found it great value for money. Prior to going out I read the reviews and tried to get myself upgraded with a contact I knew in Falcon Travel which I am glad now he could not upgrade me. Bulgaria is not a fully developed country like most countries in Western Europe and what they call a 5* Hotel certainly would only 3* over here as Falcon awarded it on their ratting system. The Hotel and Rooms were clean the Hotel staff would be considered business like but would not be experienced enough to be more than friendly to be awarded with a good tip on departure. On saying that the people I tipped were very appreciative and could not be any nicer to me. It must be remembered that the Bulgarians have had years of Communism and probably look on people from Western Europe with envy. The Beer and sprits which were given out on the all inclusive deal was very watery and you would need a hell of a lot of them to get you any way a bit tippsy. You had the choice of paying 5blv = €2.75 for a beer which is as cheap as any place in Europe for a large beer. The food became repetitive if you dined in every night but you can get up early and queue for A la carte meal or BBQ as part of your all inclusive and it is a change as well as the choice of going into Sunny Beech to eat out in one of the many restaurant there at a very good price. The final night the hot water ran out I thought myself I was just a little late showering and persevered with a luke warm and got on with it. I was surprised when the following morning the rep was surrounded by a load people complaining about the fact there was no hot water the previous night. She tried to explain there was a fault with the hot water system which was been rectified that day, I must say I felt sorry for her as there was nothing more she could do.
In general it was way cheaper than going to France, Spain or Portugal. The Bulgarians are not great with Tourists and could do with adding a bit more charm and smile a bit more but that is not a complaint. The Hotel is to big and has too many guests in the building but on saying that you might have to do a bit of queuing if you hit meals at the wrong time I said before going on holiday that if the hotel was not as bad as the reviews I read I would write in my own review that is why I wrote this go there if you have kids they will love the water park and it does not cost a arm and a leg. Enjoy

was there from 8th aug -16th, one cloudy rainy day , rest of the time very hot !! wasnt keen on cooked breakfast but lots of fruit cereal and toast , no complaints about other meals , lots of choice ( if you dont like the way food is done abroad , dont go !!! the barbarque food was lush ! rooms very clean , given passports back after 2 days , so even if we had nicked towels (sad) we werent ripped off , getting my coffee rush was a prob. but if you look around you can get one . wasps were a prob, we were told they had fumigated the forests of them , thats why they came our way , but they did seem to die down . staff friendly ( like any human you treat them as a person , they respect you back ) they seem to get a lot of flack for things beyond their control , but I noticed some customers being so rude and arrogant , I"d have got stroppy too ! would def go again and my 2 teenage sons loved it .

Subject: Over all a nightmare experience

My family of 4 have just returned from this hotel – NEVER again.
I can safely say I have never left a review on a hotel no matter how many little problems we have had – however, this holiday was the worse we have ever been on.
After reading the reviews before we left (I even emailed first choice who confirmed there was no problem with towels and food) I had an open mind, a holiday is what you make it after all. (we was not affected by towel scam – although we know of two people that were – if you haven’t collected your passports when you come to checkout – that is when you get stung, they will not give you back your passports unless you pay, if you are unfortunately going make sure you get your passports back so it doesn’t happen to you.)
There were some good points to the holiday – the barbecue was lovely – if you like wasps flying around you, the a la carte restaurant was the best place to eat – although both of which you have to Q for about 30 mins to an hour to get a table. The drinks were not watered down, and we didn’t mind paying 5 lev to have waitress service to avoid the Q’s.
However – the food was out biggest problem, for the 1st 12 days of our holiday the choice was VERY poor, two maybe three choices of meat, chips, dry pasta or boiled rice was your main choice, and potatoes was very rare. We had burgers with cheese in for 4 sittings - three of which was in a row. And chicken filled with cheese and ham 9 sittings!!!!! The food was also cold – again there was Q’s but with the right timing that can be overcome. As long as you could find a clean table and cutlery – again a mission in itself – a coffee cup in the mornings almost caused rows between guests.
The next biggest problem – WASPS. I have never seen anything like it in my life – my family and I went to a different resort in Bulgaria last year and must have seen 6 wasps in the whole two weeks, at the Royal Part there was more like 600 of them, mainly around the pool side bar, but also at the Barbie, on the beach – EVERYWHERE. For some people this may not be such a big problem – for us it was impossible and FC rep said – ‘you should have been here last year’, not helpful at all.
Our family generally have a large number of other complaints – beds covered in urine stains, sewage on out bathroom floor for 4 days, not getting room we asked for and having to change after 4 days, first choice reps talking the talk but not providing things they offer. Most of the minor problems you can overcome, but I would say because of the above mention problems, the illness we all suffered, this has been a holiday from hell.
I have read reviews from people having a good time – when we was there 28th july – 11 Aug we never found one family who was not making a complaint, everyone was. If I was the only one not happy with the food etc then I wouldn’t even worry about taking the time to write a review but I wasn’t, a first choice rep quit while we was there – one walked out on more than one occasion because they couldn’t cope with the level of complaints, honestly I have NEVER seen anything like it.
I do have to say for the last two days there was a MASSIVE improvement in the food – managers of hotel, first choice and a mass sacking of staff lead to the improvement – however that was too late for us, 2 VERY VERY long weeks were ruined.
All I can say is if you can get changed – go anywhere rather than here, I have photos to prove everything I am saying and I will of course be taking this up with the tour operator, but, it won’t get us a good holiday – if you want one avoid this hotel. A very upsetting experience, with a review like this I can’t really explain how upsetting the while experience was for the whole family, we were devastated and would have happily come home early if we could have - such a shame.

I got back last week, and i all in all i had a great holiday. A few things annoyed me, like the wasps which were EVERYWHERE! And some random woman attacked my friend with a pushchair, but apart from that there isnt much else i can complain about. I would advise people to pay for a taxi if you go into Sunny Beach, as the bus is torture. If you are lucky enough to get a seat, then well done. But if not i advise you get off before you get viscously attacked by a fat German sounding woman with a large pushcahir who wants her buggy to go where 3 people are stood, crushed into a corner. The taxi is only 25 levs, and you can actually breathe in the taxi. But i have few complaints about the hotel itself, as the staff were friendly, everything was always very clean, and we were constantly entertained. I didnt think the food wasnt great, but most of the people i was with seemed to enjoy it.

Subject: Cash machine

There is a cash machine in resort....located outside the reception area for the villas. There are loads of cash machines in Sunny Beach...just make sure you check the machine before using as there have been stories of them being tampered with!

Subject: Kimberly Craig - Royal Park

Hi Kimberly, we got back from the Royal Park on the 8th July, so we where there when all this was happening. We saw nothing! We are a family of four 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 10, we met 2 more familys with children aged 5months, 4 6 and 9 none of us was ill. Someone told us about the water being filled up from the hose pipe so we watched them all the time and never saw this, the bottles are not refillable and were delivered on a truck every day. The food was just ok nothing special and the meatballs were raw in the middle so we just got something else. My hubby is such a fussy eater and he put 9lb on lol. the kids had a ball there is so much to do, if you have kids the kids acadamy is fantastic. The hotel is lovely and the location is amazing, the weather is fantastic. My children learned please and thank you in Bulgarian and said hello to everyone because of this we didnt queue for drinks and was never treated badly, the hotel workers we found to be very friendly. We have spoken to first choice every day since being back because we want to book again for next year, with the other couples we met out there and dont want to miss out on the free child places. We are so jealous of you going - Have a lovely time and if you want to ask me any questions I will answer as honest as I can.

Subject: Royal Park Hotel

I am due to go to Royal Park Hotel in September and I am just wondering is it worth cancelling this to go elsewhere?? I am an extremely open minded person and dont expect great food anywhere thats an all inclusive resort abroad but the sickness factor is worrying me! I am looking for good honest advice here and dont need people who have grudges for whatever reason giving me exaggerated stories. But can someone let me know is this holiday worth all this hassle??
