Thanks |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | TopKeeper (81.158.64.131) | Dawn | Hi Dawn,
Staying in the Royal Park you can use all the facilites which includes the other resteraunts on site, with the exception of the restaraunt in the Royal Bay hotel (however someone told us whilst we were they it was possible to book, but I never checked) - if you decide to eat at one of the other Restaraunts (other than that inside the Royal Park Hotel) you have to book and need to be there at 10 to do so, otherwise they become full Kind Rgds, Top. |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | dawn (62.31.191.66) | royal park | im going with a party of 12 next june i have been told that with going all incl i can eat else where is this the case or are we limited to the hotel only? thank |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Graham (86.129.236.11) | MSG for Kelly | When we went in June there were plenty of sunloungers on the beach so no need to worry. The sea is great after the first five paces of pebbles.
With regards to trips we thought the official ones were charged British prices so we used local transport (buses) and it is very cheap. You have to change buses at Sunny Beach for Nessebur (where you must go for the history and there are some good fish restaurants there). Locate the bus station just off the main street in Elenite and you get buses for Bourgas (about 45-60min) for about £1 -£1.20 and our conductresswas more than helpful unlike Stagecoach. Bourgas is a large port city with plenty of shops with a huge park and a nice beach. May not suit all tastes and only good for a morning or afternoon trip. If you are staying for more than 1 week try to go to Varna but it is a two hour plus trip. Apparently a lot of history and designer shops etc I was not too happy spending £20 -£40 each for trips which can be done a lot cheaper. The long distance buses are comfortable while the local one can be very crowded especially the 5.30pm to Elenite from Sunny Beach. Bit of advice: Big buses cannot get down to Royal Bay. On the way back home we had to walk to the holiday village while our luggage was taken in a golf buggy. Best wishes Graham |

| 01 Aug, 2006 | newmans (83.100.211.215) | royal bay | we read reviews on bulgaria mostly bad to be honest so we though a holiday is what you make of it its very clean, staff extremley friendly ,cheap isnt the word we took £700 for the fortnight came back with most of it our little boy went wild on the gifts you can get in sunnybeach ferrari stuff. although you can get good fakes back home nothing to rant on about over there try the yummy kebabs nr the pier you wait a while for them and the guy who serves them is defo the miserabliest guy in bulgaria pizza's are great to if you can get one that isnt just sweetcorn 3/5 times thats what we got. i dont drink but plenty of people i saw really loved the raqi fire water apparently if you want your mind blowing out! i was terrified due to it been run by the mafia only saw boss guy twice and we only knew he was someone speacial because of the massive guys with ear pieces stood near him if you stay on royal bay walk on the beach to the left you will come across a few sun loungers with a small fence surrounding them dont use them thats the boss mans. the security in the place is good electric gates on the entrance and if you look up in most places in the hotel the little black things on the ceiling are cameras although i didnt notice any in the room . |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | aly & jason & kian (83.100.211.215) | our honeymoon in royal bay | when i arrived in bourgas i didnt like the look of it at all. on arrival at royal bay there was 1 warship straight in front of our room next day 3 following day 5 which put me off. but after a few days i grew to like the place for the staff was extremley fiendly and clean the bar man krassi was fantastic with children although there was nothing that my little 5yr old boy was interested in other than sunnybeach 40lev return the food was ok not hot but it was cooked the beach was lovely and clean .the weather wasnt fantastic three thunder storms whilst we was there in the beginning of june didnt come home with a tan got a better one from good old hull i would not go back to elenite but im going to try albina in varna in october been told lots for yougters to do there if one evening you bored try hbo channel on your tv in the room some good movies overall i would give the place 7/10 mainly because nothing for kian to do |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | TopKeeper (193.128.219.97) | Kelly & Sharon | Firstly your quite right, the queues for the snacks can be for want of a beta work pathetic, I too had to the queuing for an hour for the kebabs, the hotdogs were a better but they ran out quickly, pizza was the best option we found.
& Sharon, yes cooked breakfasts are available, never saw the pancakes though, but we were in the Royal Bay, they had Sausage, Eggs, Toast, Bacon the useual Top. |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Kelly (81.178.233.216) | Royal Park | Myself & my family bought a day pass for 30lev per person and were a bit disappointed. We were in there for 10am, Couldn't get a sun lounger on the beach or by any of the pools, the nice restaurant was fully booked, the cold drinks were not very cold and the beer was horrid! Also, and I may be wrong here having just got a day pass, but the que's for the snacks were horrendus - we waited an hour for a sandwich!! We ended up spending the day in the waterpark where we had to pay for sunbeds & drinks!!! ON A PLUS NOTE HOWEVER - the complex itself is lovely and the evening meal was fine. The night's are slightly chaotic - if you are going with kids you'll love it, if you are going with adults, you might be better up at Sunny Beach for your night's out!!! |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Sharon (81.171.138.7) | Royal Park | Hi there,
Looking at booking Royal Park for next May - has anyone been there at the end of May - What is the weather like? Regarding the food at the hotel -do they do a cooked breakfast, pancakes etc? WHat is the childrens club like for a 3year old? Cheers |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | mc (80.192.66.136) | just back from RP. food is good if you give it a try.people moaning without trying it. big problems with sun loungers, i was up at 8 on 3-4 occasions and could not get 1 at the pool or on the beach.to many greedy people taking to much pizza, hot dogs and chicken rolls.this hotel is clean and the staff are very helpful.beer is very weak 2% but you can buy bottles of becks for 50p. entertainment is ok for young kids but the older kids could get bored if they don't mix with people | |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Marie (82.32.247.164) | Royal Park | Myself, husband and 2 children visited Royal Park for 1 day last year as a visitor. (We have own apartment at Privilege Fort Beach) and we were very impressed. Very busy though and not able to get sun loungers but that was only negative. |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | TopKeeper (193.128.219.97) | Kelly | Hi Kelly, no its first come first served for the loungers, I stayed at the Royal Bay but used the pool at the Royal Park as friends stayed there, there were about 20 of us using the loungers and we always got one but we had to be down before 9:30. As for trips try the one to Nessebar but do it yourself as the hotel run one tends to be a bit hectic, there is a boat leaves about 10:30 everyday which is very cheap. And as for cash machines, you have to go into Sunny Beach for those.
And on the topic of food poisening, not one of our group had anything except a mild upset tummy which clear itself up within a day, and lets face it free beer and free food, yr bound to get the odd person who overdoes it, relax its a really clean place, and youll enjoy it, all of us did Hope This Helps, J. |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Kelly (192.28.65.210) | MSG For Graham | Thanks Graham, Just a bit wary after reading the reports on the net of people claiming money for having had food poisoning! I've heard that the hotel is clean and there's plenty of sunloungers ( that bit comfused me as it said that there was 2 loungers allocated to each room.... does this mean we have to cart our loungers down at the beginning of the day and then take them back up?
Can you suggest any good trips to go on? We're going with airtours so not sure what to expect as we usually go thomsons though i'm sure they'll be ok. If there any other useful info you could pass on? Is there a cash machine close by? Thanks!! |
| 01 Aug, 2006 | Graham (81.154.149.60) | Message for Kelly | Kelly: If you are going to Royal Bay you will enjoy it. We certainly did and we also thought the food was very good. Also try the Sozopol; restaurant on a Sunday or Monday when they traditional Bulgarian entertainment- you have to book.
Don't worry but look forward to what should be a great holiday. |
| 31 Jul, 2006 | TopKeeper (86.135.134.62) | Night Life | Mmmm, Depends what your after really, the nightlife in resort is aimed more at familes and tends to shut down around 11-12, there is a bar just outside the complex called Pacos which is open till 3am and is very cheap, it also does snacks until 2am-ish, if your after something a bit more lively then its a Taxi ride to Sunny Beach (or bus if you want), its 20lev into Sunny Beach and after 10PM its 25lev back, but agree your price before you set off, as for drinks, 2 pints 2 halfs came to 7lev in most pubs in Sunny Beach for us, I drew 400 lev out from the bank whilst i was there and when I got back checked my bank it was £141 in English money so a round of drinks was costing us about £2.50 for 4 people, not bad that! |

| 27 Jul, 2006 | mode57 (213.107.224.17) | royal park hotel | i will be going to the royal park hotel on friday 4th aug, for two weeks with my wife 2 girls (8 and 12), and we are really looking forward to it. i have been glued to this site for the last 3 or 4 weeks and although it has been a bit worrying at some of the things i've read, on the whole most of the comments have been good.there will be 10 of us in our party with more to come on the 7th and a couple more on the 12th. some will be with us at the royal park, and some will be at sunny beach, so i know that what ever happens we will all meet up and have a good time together. by the way can anyone tell me if they have red bull there or the equivilent, either in the hotel or the shops nearby? cos one or two of us enjoy it with a generous splash of vodka!! if not we were going to take some with us. anyway if you are there when we are, we'll see you by the pool!! keep the feedback coming in and thanks to all who have posted comments (good and bad!) 7 more days to go.............!!!!!!!!!!! |

| 25 Jul, 2006 | Chelmergirl@aol.com (195.93.21.35) | hotel royal park elenite | i am coming to the royal park on friday 28th july ,all i can say to the gentlemen who mentioned dodgy englanders, i am english i take everyone as i see them and if they are polite to me i am the same to them, every one has the right to enjoy their holiday and manners dont cost anything. |
| 24 Jul, 2006 | Andrei (62.56.77.118) | Dodgy Russian/English/German/... | It's strange guys you've mentioned "dodgy Russian" in chorus. I checked many German sites about Elenite; they all mention the only big trouble: Englanders. |
| 24 Jul, 2006 | TopKeeper (193.128.219.97) | Royal Park/Bay | Hi All,
Just wanted to drop a note as we are now back from our 2 week holiday, now sat at my desk at work feeling very depressed and wishing i was back sat around the pool taking up the rays. All in all the holiday was great, we all really enjoyed ourselves (there were 30 in our party spread between the Royal Park and Royal Bay hotels), the beer was cold and the food wasnt too bad (not has bad as some people mentioned which worried us before we went, especially having our 14month old daughter with us), there was always something to do with the First Choice reps doing a great job. To anyone about to go, youll enjoy it, its a really friendly place (even if there does seem to be a lot of dodgy looking Russians around) Rgds, Top! |
| 23 Jul, 2006 | Andrei (62.56.77.118) | water park | to x-o-x: I've never been to Bulgaria yet but your question seems easy (thanks to Internet in general and this forum in particular): the park in the Elenite village is already (mainly) open and functional; certanly there is also a water park in Slnchev Bryag (Sunny Beach) where you can get by bus/taxi/coach shattle/privately hired car/etc |
| 23 Jul, 2006 | x-o-x (195.137.14.208) | HoLiDaY | i am goin to royal park hotel on 4th august, i was wondering wether the water park is in the elenite willage or you have to get a bus or taxi...does anyone know? thanx |

| 21 Jul, 2006 | Jeffrey Ferguson (212.20.245.202) | Elenite Villas | Just returned from a fantastic week with my wife and two small boys spent in the Elenite Villas.Had one of the villas high up on the hillside (128 steps up from beach, according to my eldest boy!)with one of the best views over the beach, the resort and the entire Sunny beach bay.The apartment was small but perfectly functional with a nice balcony and bunk beds for the kids. My bed was broken and when I reported it to the reception a maintenance guy was there to fix it within 20 minutes which I thought was highly efficient. So now onto the food. We all found the food to be of a very good standard. It's not designed exclusively for a British palate so I can understand why some people may have a problem with it.The hot food was all cooked thouroughly and there were even food temperature serving charts at the service area. The salads and fruit were well presented and as soon as something looked like it was running low it was re-stocked.The deserts were all new to us but we all loved the little sponge cakes and the baclava, especially when smothered in vanilla ice cream. Yes, you do have to queue for your food-but hey, it's a buffet folks!Getting a free table can be a bit of a chore, my advice is just take a table that the waiter is about to clear and they'll quickly set it up for you. If you wait for a table that's already prepared you'll simply starve! The waiters are very efficient, perhaps even too efficient. They'll be away with your empty or near empty glass before you know it. The plates are a bit smaller than we're used to, so if you're going back for seconds, hide your cutlery from the waiter or they'll be away with it and you'll probably not get any more. The beer in the Nessebar restauarant is much better than the stuff at any of the snack bars, maybe beacause it's served in glasses. Saying that I challenge anyone to get drunk on the free beer at Elenite. One day I saw a group of my fellow countrymen from Scotland trying their best to do what we're good at(getting drunk) by the beach snack bar and after 6 hours of drinking, nothing!I can't comment on the spirits because I never touch them but I used to buy a few bottles of cold Bulgarian and imported beer from the shop and drink them while watching the moon rising over the Black Sea. Bliss. My only real gripe about our holiday has nothing to do with the place, food, service or apartment. It was some of the extremely rude Russian guests that seemed to be everywhere. My first encounter with our Ruskie friends was feeling an elbow in my ribs as I was queueing to get some bread. After I regained my breathe I noticed that the elbow belonged to a young Russian women that was getting to the front of the queue by doing the same to everyone there. The Russians also tended to fill small bags with fruit and take it home with them. They were also very loud and seemed to shout a lot.The women looked like a 1983 fashion disaster that had just finished servicing the sailors at Liverpool docks. The men looked like their pimps and the older women looked like Pat Butcher having a bad day. I almost got into a fight with one guy who continued to butt in while I was talking to the receptionist. The Bulgarians also have a strong dislike for them.If theres no hairdryer in your room, it's because it's probable currently being used by some Babooshka in Stalingrad. Yes folks thats where all the hairdriers that are meant to be in our rooms have gone!Apart from that, we had a brilliant time. The Bulgarians were very friendly and the place was clean and everything worked. Can't comment on the Royal Park or the Royal Bay but we had a very positive experience at Elenite. One question, does anyone know what that ship was that appeared to be anchored just off the beach for about 4 days at the start of July? I suspect it was the KGB listening in to me moaning about my comrades. I take it all back what I said about the Russians!Happy holidays. |

| 20 Jul, 2006 | donna llewellyn (80.4.185.241) | we returned from the royal park on tuesday, ok the food is a bit boring (same thing all the time just in different sauces) but you can survive.
the snacks are lovely but you do have to queue. in the day you can only get beer and soft drinks by the main pool bar but if you walk to the smaller pool which is a stone throw away you can get your spirits, the beer isnt to strong but we sat in the smaller pool by the bar and had a day on the cocktails and beleive me we cant remember going to bed. there is bingo eveey night by the pool but it is only 1 game, it cost 3 levs a ticket and the money is really good worth playing. there is plenty to do on the beach and we went on the jet ski and the banana, there are little scooters for hire on the site we went for a week and did'nt see everything. i queued for an hour and half to book into the sunshine resturant but was well worth it. if i can help you with any thing i will be more than happy too | |
| 19 Jul, 2006 | Chelmergirl@aol.com (195.93.21.35) | Hotel Royal Park | my boyfriend and i are coming to the Royal Park on 28th july is there still a problem with the food and stomach bugs, a bit concerned at the moment hearing a lot of negatives at the moment,if someone has just returned home can you please let me know ,,, thanx |
| 16 Jul, 2006 | carol (80.4.224.4) | royal park | I have just returned home from 2 weeks in the Royal Park Hotel, the hotel is very clean and the staff are very busy, the food is the same every day, either chicken or pork in a different sauce, roasted veg, pasta & chips, the salads are the same every day and all the nice fruit gets eaten very quickly by the germans so if you like fruit especially water melon get in there quick! The pool, beach and young children entertainment is very good, on our first day we went to get a sunbed by the pool but were shocked to find them all reserved already so by the end of the holiday we were doing the same, going down about 7am & reserving ours. I did have a good time but the last few days were awful because me & my son came down with either food poisoning or a virus, our rep said there has been a virus going around for about 2 weeks, i know there were quite a few people on drips for a couple of days but luckily we didnt get that bad. The sea is very warm & there are lots of activities to do, the nite life is ok its just a shame the 'all in' beer isnt stronger because you need about 10 gallons to feel merry, theres not much fizz to the coke & lemonade either. The water park at Royal Park opened just before we came home, the kids enjoyed it but be careful of the floor because its very slippery and its an accident waiting to happen. All in all the holiday was good but the food was very dissappointing, im not moaning im telling you how my holiday was. |
| 16 Jul, 2006 | ME (88.144.59.212) | Hotel Park Royal | TopKeeper
Thank you so much for your much appreciated comments!!! You are making me feel so much better. I totally agree with you, unfortunately this sort of website is not always a good thing because usually people only feel the need to comment if they have had either a really really bad time or an exceptionally good time, so all the people in the middle who had a good holiday say nothing. I was starting to feel a little bit worried because there is a large group of us coming in August, but you have made me feel so much better. I have to say the hotel we stayed in last year in Turkey got absolutely slated on this sort of review website and I felt a little anxious then also but when we got there the hotel was fine and we had a fantastic holiday. I hope you continue to enjoy your holiday!!!! People hated the food in Turkey also but we found it find, you shouldn’t expect English food abroad and Chicken Nuggets and chips for your kids (mine would rather of tried the Turkish food anyway)! thank again PS. last year I got really bad food poisoning but I it was just before we went on holiday, I was sick for two weeks and had to have antibotics and that was from a London Restaruant. |
| 16 Jul, 2006 | tony (80.4.224.4) | top keeper | oh by the way im not moaning i am making a comment of how my holiday was.
my family were ill but not on a drip like the other familys .....nothing to do with the food eh! .....if your holiday is that good why you sat on a pc. |
| 16 Jul, 2006 | TopKeeper (213.169.41.122) | On & Off The Plane | So when you got on the plane at 14st and got off at 13st the complimentory WEIGHING SCALES that the AIRLINE so KINDLY provided to you did the trick then? - And ALL YOU are saying is the TRUTH, must remeber to pack my scales next time I come so I can so a before and after the plane journey home weigh in!
JOKE! People, its NOT that bad at all, remeber ANYWHERE you go abroad someone can always get a dicky tummy, it happens, Spain, Portugal, America, or Bulgaria - we are NOT used to the food and sometimes it gets us, this place is really nice, really clean and yes I agree the food could be better, but all in all its a top place. |
| 16 Jul, 2006 | TopKeeper (213.169.41.122) | Oh & By The Way | Group of 30 here (still, we have another week to go) and no food posioning, so stop blaming the food and instead look at how much of that free beer your drinking (ive seen people get right back in the queue once there served) the amount of food your eating (again people ordering as much as 8 chicken kebabs cause there scared of missing out then throwing them away)
Hows it go, 18 pints last night but that kebab did me in at the end of the night, spent all day throwing up, NOT THE BEER CONSUMED WAS IT??????? |
