17 May, 2006sue (81.155.9.56)Royal park hotel Hi Annette and Paul we land 22.50 monday evening the 22nd. Went on weatherline weather looking really good :)
16 May, 2006Lisa (195.93.21.67)Hi Richard I was thinking of doing the same, either asking for a refund or the equivalent hol somewhere else. I never thought they would agree to it though so thats surprised me. In the end I decided that whatever the hol was gonna be like - I wanted to go, because like you say - you look forward to it for so long. I will be sure to leave feedback about the hol once we get back. I have a good feeling about it now, and im sure everyones gonna have a great time :-) Out of interest, where did you see the reports on the building of the water park? Id be interested to read about it. Thanks, Lisa
16 May, 2006Richard (81.174.151.165) Myself, wife & 3 children were due to be going to the Royal Park on 22nd May for 2 weeks. I was a little unhappy at having the letter regarding the building work etc just 3 weeks before we were due to go. Even though it stated that the work would stop by 1st June, this was still most of our holiday. I called first choice and they offered me a refund, but nobody wants to cancel their holiday after looking forward to it for so long. After reading numerous reports regarding the aquapark I found out that the landscaping for the aquapark was as close as 10 metres from the rear of the hotel. First choice said they couldn't guarantee a room at the front of the hotel. Eventually, I managed to get them to move our holiday forward 3 weeks to 12th June at no additional cost. Originally they wanted an extra 400 to do this.

The only drawback now is having to wait longer for my holiday :(

I know there have been loads of bad reports of this Hotel flying around the internet, but I am determined that this holiday will be superb! After all, a holiday is what you make it!

For all those that are going before me now, I would be grateful if you could post of your experiences on your return :)

Happy Holidays!!!

Im concerned about the building works but have been assured by first choice today that there have been no complaints concerning building works from anyone that has been out this year. Anyone any idea of weather out there at the moment? on various websites it's high 60s low70s.

11 May, 2006Lisa (195.93.21.67)Bit apprehensive! Hi, I have booked a hol at the Royal Park Hotel for the 26th May 2006 for 2 weeks. I am getting quite scared to be honest, maybe im reading too much! Im going with my twin 8 year old boys so any adult conversation will be very welcome :-) The things im reading seem to be very mixed about this hotel, also the weather. Would love to hear from anyone else going the same time or who has been and can convince me it's gonna be great! Thanks.

13 Apr, 2006Steve from Wigan (194.83.191.3)Royal Park All I can say is - we must have gone to a different Royal Park last July/Aug to the one thats featured on here - our holiday was superb! What, exactly, do people expect the hotel to do about a few wasps flying around? As for undercooked food - here's an idea - why not try asking in a civil manner if the chef wouldn't mind cooking your food a little longer instead of taking it and then moaning afterwards??

It probably isn't the greatest hotel in the world - but what do people want for the prices charged? You get what you pay for and, for me and my family (2 girls 7 & 13,) it was excellent value for money.

One more thing - show me anywhere else where the reps work harder than the First Choice reps at the Royal Park to keep the kids happy and I'll plait fog!

If you've booked - go with an open mind, dont expect 5 star luxury and, above all, don't keep reading these coments pages - all it does is confuse you and put you off!!
27 Feb, 2006lynne (62.254.64.12)hotel royal park well have decided to change hol and am going to tunisia instead. Got no joy from holiday company who are still adertising the fact that you can have a room with a sea view.. beware anyone thats thinking of booking, they charge for it then apparently as they've told us. send everyone a letter saying its not guaranteed but you MIGHT get one.
26 Feb, 2006lynne (62.254.64.12)rooms being changed hi
originally we had booked s higher priced double room with a kids den and a sea view. First choice have said that for a number of reasons the amount of rooms have been reduced. We've been told we're getting a bigger room but are not guaranteed a sea view. they've given us 68 pound back
26 Feb, 2006Ritchie (81.174.151.165)Royal Park Hi

I have booked for 2 weeks (last week of May - First week June) for myself , my wife & 3 children. Haven't heard anything about rooms being changed.

Why did first choice say they were changing your room? What did you book originally? We have booked 2 interconnecting twin 3 rooms. Originally we were going to book a suite, but first choice couldn't tell us the arrangement of the sleeping in the suite and didn't want 1 of the children on a pull down sofa in our room.

Did First Choice say why they were reducing the number of rooms?

What date in june are you going Lynne?
26 Feb, 2006lynne (62.254.64.12)rooms being changed were booked fr r.p in june. just got a letter off first choice saying the amount of rooms are being reduced and weve been given a kids den suite for 5, but with no guarantee of a sea view.. which we booked for... anyone else heard anything

23 Oct, 2005christine simcock (195.93.21.98)holiday from hell we stayed at royel park elenit sept 16th to oct 1st we came down with food poising not much enetrtaimment all the crockery was chipped broken
11 Oct, 2005Sharon Bushby (195.93.21.98)Royal Park Elenite. Returned home last night. I have mixed feelings about The Royal Park. The building was magnificent. As you turn the corner on the bus and see it you think 'wow! The hotel entrance and reception area is stunning. The first few days the weather was great. We were disappointed at the amount of wasps and flies. I got stung on the first day. The room was large; bathroom was new, although carpet was frayed and dirty. Beds smelt of urine. The animation hall where the welcome meeting was held had very sticky floors and tables. Although just partner and myself went we did meet other people and found it a pain being able to only get 2 drinks at a time from the bar. IF YOU ARE GOING AS A FAMILY OR LARGE GROUP THIS CAN BECOME A PAIN! Some of the bar and restaurant staff were polite enough but most were not. Cleaners were present at all times, sweeping, mopping and cleaning the windows. The evening entertainment was the same in the Irish Bar every evening. Bingo and pop quiz. If you just want to chill out in the bar you need to get thee very early as the place is full from the afternoon with people making sure they get their table for bingo! There was a bus that went to Sunny Beach every hour; the times on the board in the reception were different to the times the bus actually came. If you missed the bus there were taxi drivers pestering you, informing you that you will have to wait an hour. Now on to the food! When we go on holiday we love to try local food, different things that you would not get at home. Breakfast: Fatty lumps of 'bacon', fatty 'sausages', scrambled and fried eggs. Continental breakfasts, cereals and bread. Unless you want to completely block your arteries during your stay avoid the fried breakfasts. If you want toast be prepared to queue for ages to toast your bread. Tea and coffee: take your own. There was often a shortage of mugs.
Lunch and dinner, not bad. Tried a few local dishes, wasn't overly impressed. A la Carte restaurant was nice. Sit down 3 course meal. BBQ restaurant by beach, you need to book, you get a band and dancing if you go for the 8pm sitting, but not the 6pm. Chicken kebabs during the day: THE CHICKEN WAS NOT COOKED PROPERLY. The man serving the kebabs was smoking, as were the bar staff whilst working. Restaurant workers would pop out side for a cig, where they could be seen and would return to work without washing their hands. NOW FOR THE SERIOUS BIT. Numerous people came down with bug/ food poisoning/ gastroenteritis. It is not pleasant at all. Stomach cramps, severe vomiting, and diarrhoea. My partner went to a rep to report that I was ill. He was told to go into Sunny Beach and go to the pharmacy and tell them what was wrong. The rep was not overly helpful, and my partner was annoyed that although they knew of a breakout they did not see fit to inform the guests or ensure the medicines required was available in the hotel. This illness ruined my holiday. I hardly ate after that. If you are going to The Royal Park please ensure your meat is cooked through before you eat it and use a straw wherever possible. (The glasses were being wiped around with an old washing up sponge). Visit Sunny Beach and Nessebar. We hired a car and travelled up the coast to Varna and Golden Sands. If you do this look out for the laies soliciting at the side of the road as you go through the forrest area in broad day light!

07 Oct, 2005Craig (193.133.113.141) Agree with Rachel, 1/2 the hotel came down with food poisoning. The staff and reps didn't want to know
05 Oct, 2005RACHEL (213.104.241.130) HOLIDAY FROM HELL,CAME HOME WITH FOOD POISONING,STAFF RUDE,FOOD REVOLTING,SWARMS OF FLIES AND WASPS STINGING KIDS,NO ENTERTAINMENT AT ALL,UNLESS YOU HAD PACK OF CARDS,EVERYONE COMPLAINED BUT WAS IGNORED.WORST HOLIDAY EVER.
30 Sep, 2005Karen HUrst (194.74.161.100)Royal Park Hotel I have just returned from the Royal Park Hotel, I thought it was a brilliant Hotel, The food was great, made friends with the barstaff and once you get to know them they are both a great laugh, I hope I will return there in the near future
18 Sep, 2005Ian Mc Donald (62.30.38.93)Royal Park Hotel. Literally just returned from the royal park in Bulgaria all 10 off us.
These are the facts!
ACCOMODATION is overall good, the rooms are large and modern, some of the workmanship is not A1 but adequate. The changing of beding and towels is not done on a regular basis.
FOOD is overall adequate with nothing over the top, the Chef appears to have a liking for salt !
FACILITIES are excellent with everything you may need on your stay.
ENTERTAINMENT is aimed at the kids with the reps being excellent.
BEACH is faultless with loads to do.
HOTEL POOLS are like taking an ice bath Brrrrr.
WEATHER was scorching on our stay.
ALL INCLUSIVE only covers basic local spirits vod, whiskey @ gin and local beer 0.1percent proof anything extra will require .
OVERALL we all had an enjoyable holiday HOWEVER a word of advise this resort and area is controlled by the Mafia, with back handing being routine as we found out at the airport with a customs officer demanding a back hander on legitimate goods, we never paid and subsequently were told we had a Knife in our bags ? BE CAREFULL.
Any further info ide be glad to help

08 Sep, 2005sarah (80.193.10.218)royal park hotel my family and i went to the royal park on the 16th of may 2005 ,it was our first time in bulgaria and found it to be great so good that we are going back on the 30th of september 4 2 weeks
01 Sep, 2005stella (82.10.124.81)hotel royal park elenite I,like many others, had read all the awful reviews of this hotel and had, therefore, more than a few reservations about our holiday there. We have just returned from a brilliant 2 weeks at the R.P. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. The food was great if you're willing to give things a try (I have to say that the gateaux are excellent!). The beach is wonderful. Apart from 2 good thunderstorms, which can happen anywhere, the weather was fantastic. Lots to do and see. A few different places to eat and drink. The Irish bar on '0' floor gives good measures of vodka and the staff are great! Nessebar is lovely and so is Sunny Beach. We visited S.B four times and found it superb. At the R.P the cleanliness is brilliant because the maids and cleaners work all hours. If you go with First Choice you won't be dissapointed. I cannot fault them on any aspect of the holiday. The entertainment team were great even though our son is a bit to old to appreciate them. Having said that, by the end of the fortnight, we were all singing 'The Mimic Man' with the best of 'em. Definitely will go back again. Go and enjoy yourselves, chill out. So what if the grub isn't like you get at home? If you want English food (pizza, curry, kebabs, spag bol etc!**!) then stay in England. You've got to embrace the differences and go with an open mind. I have to agree with a previous reviewer about the airport! If Bulgaria wants to attract more holidaymakers, then they have to do something about Bourgas airport. We queued for 2 hours to get through passport control and then our baggage went missing because they thought the bags were lost property because they had been there so long! It wouldn't stop me going back there though. We are seriously thinking of going again next year.

28 Aug, 2005Sam Blount (195.92.168.167)Royal Park Hotel we arrived back in the early hours of Saturday morning. i have to say alot of people had put down Bulgaria in one way or another. to put your minds at rest the royal park is a fantastic hotel. the resort is quiet but has everything you would need for a beach holiday. the food was more than adequate with 3 other restaurants available to use. the entertainment put on by First Choice is mainly for the kids. but on the whole was very good.
We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to go again.
