Location: The top-class Riviera Holiday Club is situated just 17km to the north of the sea capital of Bulgaria, Varna, and borders with the rival holiday complex of Golden Sands. Riviera's hotels offer a lot of luxury and comfort, while the beach is private and full of sports and recreation facilities. The charm of the Riviera Holiday Club is further enhanced by the fact that the complex is located amid a natural park of centuries-old trees and springs of mineral water, which make it a modern balneological centre as well.
History: The hotel complex is a former (i.e. pre-1989) government residence, which was upgraded into 6 modern hotels after the fall of communism.
Places of Interest: The impressive Aladzha rock monastery is one of the best preserved rock monasteries, scattered all over the Dobrudzha region. It is situated only a few kilometers above the resort and is also a part of the Zlatni Pyasatsi natural park. Relatively close to Riviera is also the town of Balchik with its beautiful palace and botanic garden.
Accommodation: The complex has 6 hotels of a total of 828 beds, with the most luxurious of these being the 5-star Imperial Hotel. Besides holidaymakers during the top season, Imperial also attracts a number of business tourists throughout the whole year, due to its top service, and superb conference facilities. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, a bowling hall, 2 outdoor tennis courts, a fitness hall, a water sports centre, a health centre, a table tennis hall, solarium, sauna and massage rooms. Besides Imperial, the complex also has three 4-star hotels and two 3-star hotels, with combined capacity of nearly 200 rooms facing the sea, all with telephone and satellite TV connections.
Featured Hotels:
Catering: The complex has five restaurants of Bulgarian and European cuisine. In addition, there is a specialised fish and seafood restaurant, 3 snack bars, a day bar, and an air-conditioned disco club.
Transport: Transport between Riviera Holiday Club and Varna is remarkably well organised. Apart from regular bus lines connecting the resort to the city and also to its airport, there are a lot of minibuses, private route taxis and ordinary taxis. Because of intense competition, fares are moderate.
